about

This song was previously recorded as a ballad on a previous album "Young, Dumb And...". The harmonic complexity of the original could not be completely ironed out and the chord changes are still odd for a purely diatonic rock song, but there was a straightening out and purification of the music that was very satisfying. The song was delivered! It came out of it's blanket and is a rocking an unembarrassed nude! Very much influenced by late 60's Rolling Stones and The Velvet Underground. Rollicking fun with the help of my favorite musical collaborator on guitar. Thanks Brian. If anyone reads this far, this song is secretly about the temporary nature of life and not a romantic "Could Have Been" story. We only have a moment. What did it give to you?

lyrics

We had a moment
I saw it in your eyes
It happened so sudden
It caught me by surprise

I heard a laugh
I never heard you laugh
I saw someone I could hold
I smiled a smile
That lasted a while
I saw a future unfold
For me and you

We had a moment
I really felt it too
I felt a softness and
A hunger I could give to you

I laughed a laugh
I hardly laugh
As I looked in to you
You smiled a smile that lasted a while
What did it give to you?

What did it give to you?

We had a moment
But I'm not a romantic fool
Sometimes it just happens
And there's nothing for you to do

But I heard a laugh
I never heard you laugh
And I wanted to hear it more
I smiled a smile that lasted a while
And then you looked to the door
And then you were gone

What did it give to you?
What did it give to you?
What did it give to you?
What did it give to you?

about

Jemmy Joe Olympia, Washington

Jemmy Joe is a twin. An unreliable narrator. An acquired taste. Mixing traditional folk, jazz harmonic taste and a sardonic optimism, Jemmy Joe has been making music for no one his entire, god damn adult life. Though he has very little to show for it, it is the train he is on and will not be jumping off any time soon. ... more
