about

This song was initially written with an abandoned idea of a collaboration with good friend Joey Cappoccia of The Pine Hearts. Joey is such a perfect pop songwriter that there was a motivation to write uncomplicated, hooky songs. The complex harmonic playfulness that mark most of my songs was put aside for a simple Everly Brothers influenced two part harmony revolving around a simple song about missing someone who ain’t coming back. Maybe something bigger was delivered without the greater musical ambitions.

lyrics

If you come back
I'll sing "Moon River" again
"Dream A Little Dream" will be
A lullaby for you and me
I'll sing anything

You are a leaf in the wind
Following the horizon's gleam
Some bright air has
Got you chasing a dream
Do your best poet stare
Head in the clouds so you see the stars
You move me
When we sing harmony

If you come back
I'll sing "Moon River" again
"Pure Imagination", "Honeysuckle Rose"
I'll sing every song we know

I read your diary
In a postcard you sent to me
"I'm one thing
I'm only where I've been"
You've been here
You've been gone
Some bright air
let us sing another song

If you come back
I'll sing "Moon River" again
"Dream A Little Dream" will be
A lullaby for you and me
I'll sing anything

If you come back
I'll sing "Moon River" again
"Pure Imagination", mangled "La Vie En Rose"
I'll sing every song we know

You stay away too long
You stay away too long
You stay away too long
You stay away too long

about

Jemmy Joe Olympia, Washington

Jemmy Joe is a twin. An unreliable narrator. An acquired taste. Mixing traditional folk, jazz harmonic taste and a sardonic optimism, Jemmy Joe has been making music for no one his entire, god damn adult life. Though he has very little to show for it, it is the train he is on and will not be jumping off any time soon. ... more
