In a way, this song was a sister song to my previous musical offering "Everything Is Falling Apart". Any sort of certainty is dubious to me. Is EVERYTHING really falling apart? I feel that way at times, but I wouldn't get it tattooed on me. What is the opposite, dubious certainty? That everything is as it should be? Equally dubious. I was walking around my workplace, singing this to myself, and a coworker was all "Uh, everything is NOT perfect." You don't say.

I didn't want to be ironic in this song. No false twee intended. It is a very pretty song, but apocalyptical. It is critical of over-optimism and pleasure of the status quo. Because the status is not... quo. But I also think and feel that we live in the age of miracles, the envy of anyone who lived before. Or at least I am. And isn't that the rub: is it just people like me and you in this golden age? In the whole world, anyone listening to this song is "the one percent". Sorry to be that guy. Anyways, can we take a moment to appreciate I used the world "unfurl" in a song? I think I'm the first person to have used that word in a song.

The song takes influence from comical malaphors, Voltaire, Disney theme music and Alan Moore's "V For Vendetta".

It was played on my classical guitar. I have an even prettier, more fully arranged version on a hard drive, just past the demo state. Musically, I am over the moon with how that had ended up but am presenting it here as bare bones as can be. Dumbed down, even. Basic chords with the perfect sounding soft guitar. See what I did there?
